Remembering Philip Karr

Funeral services were held October 12, 2005 at Beth Israel Memorial Park in Woodbridge, N.J. at 11:00 a.m. for Phillip Karr.

Philip Karr, 58, of Orlando, FL died Sunday, October 9, 2005 in Hanover, NJ of a sudden heart attack. Philip was a beloved husband for 28 years to Amy Allen Karr, and devoted father to Jesse and Melissa, all of Orlando. He is also survived by his mother, Stella Karr of Laguna Woods, CA and sister, Ann Grodin of Beverly Hills.

Philip was an acclaimed entertainment professional with over 40 years experience as a talent agent, casting director, and executive producer in New York, Los Angeles, and Orlando. He was Executive Director of Solitaire Entertainment, Inc., Founder of Philip Karr Talent Management, and was Artistic Director of the L.A. Acting Workshop. Mr. Karr''s Oscar, Emmy, Golden Globe and Tony award winning clients have appeared in hundreds of feature films, television series, commercials, and Broadway shows, including American Dreams, Mamma Mia, Cinderella, Spin City, Party of Five, Seinfeld, Batman, Pulp Fiction, West Side Story, Frasier, The Young and the Restless, ER, The Bold and the Beautiful, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Once and Again, Just Shoot Me, and many more.

As a prestigious talent agent in New York, L.A., and Orlando, Mr. Karr has developed thousands of actors for television and feature films. John Travolta, Sela Ward, Danny DeVito, Kevin Costner, Halle Berry, Whitney Houston, Rita Moreno, A.J. McLean, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Mandy Moore, and Brittany Snow are among the many stars he has represented. As a personal manager, Mr. Karr helped to create the careers of Heather Locklear, Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, and Jennifer Love Hewitt.

Philip was an extraordinary person; both selfless and genuine. He touched the lives of so many, not only in the entertainment industry, but locally as well, by helping to teach and coach lacrosse at West Orange High School in Winter Garden, FL always putting other people''s needs before his own. Philip will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.
