(released 10/14/2025)

The Melbourne Independent Filmmakers Festival will run October 16-18, 2025. SPACE DANCE is this year's festival theme celebrating the boundless artistry of independent filmmakers while honoring the Florida's Space Coast heritage and the legacy of NASA's human spaceflight program.

"This year's 'Space Dance' theme isn't just about rockets and stars—it's a tribute to the innovative spirit that propels both filmmakers and explorers forward," said MIFF Program Chair and Co-Founder Dr. Terry Cronin. "It's wonderful when our community comes together to celebrate the artistry of filmmaking and is able to do it while raising money for a great cause!"

The weekend will have screenings, panels and star-studded moments. The festival will kickoff with "Making Megaforce" on Thursday, October 16, at 6:00PM. This is a behind-the-scenes saga chronicling the 1982 cult classic action flick. The after party will be at Tide and Tonic with recording artist Char Good.

Anchoring the festival is the world premiere of the riveting documentary "The Man Behind the Six Million Dollar Man: The Untold Story of Martin Caidin", a deep-dive into the life of the visionary author and aerospace pioneer whose groundbreaking work inspired one of television's most iconic sci-fi franchises.

Jay Honeycutt former NASA Manager and Kennedy Space Center Director will take history buffs and space enthusiasts into orbit with "A Brief History of NASA Human Spaceflight". From Mercury to Artemis, Honeycutt will be offering insider insights that make the cosmos feel intimately attainable.

Florida comedian Lisa Corrao will bring laughter and joy to festival shorts blocks that she will be hosting during the festival.

The constellation of stars will be complete as the festival concludes with a red carpet including singing, photo ops, dancing and local celebrities. An after party with Rockstar Entertainment at the Hemingway's/One Oak with awards and VIP program will also take place.

Three days of festival will also help raise funds for the No Limits Academy which provides innovative education to children with physical disabilities.

The festival's 50 plus shorts, features and panels will take place at the Premiere Theaters Oak 10 located at 1800 West Hibiscus Blvd., Melbourne, Florida 32901.
