Miami Short Film Festival Screening This Weekend

The Deering Estate in partnership with The Miami Short Film Festival present FOCUS ON: PASSPORT TO THE WORLD.

The screening will take place indoors at the Deering Estate Visitor Center on September 25th. Doors will open at 6pm for a complimentary cocktail at 630pm and a screening at 7pm. Explore your world with your fellow cinephiles.

The tickets are $20 for entry and $14 if you have a student, military or senior id. Tickets can only be purchased through Miami Short Film Festival in advance. Go here for tickets: www.goelevent.com/MSFF

The following films will be showcased:

Fjord 
Dir. by Skule Eriksen – Documentary – 24 min., Norway
Fjord is a personal interpretation of the landscape in Naeroyfjord in Western Norway, included in UNESCOs World Heritage list of 2005. The film is poetic and rhythmic, following the shifting light and the turn of the seasons in this unique and dramatic landscape.

Afghan 72
Dir. by Pierre Forcioli-Conti – Documentary – 4 min., USA
After finding 16mm reels in the attic of his parents house, a man discovers an improbable side of his fathers personality.

Caracas En Moto
Dir. by Daniel Ruiz Hueck – Documentary – 10 min., Venezuela
In this amusing documentary, traffic in Caracas, Venezuela is petrifying, and according to experts around the globe (and the weary, fed-up citizens of Caracas), a cause of extreme fatal stress.

Ephemeral City

The streets of New York City come alive in this beautiful, fascinating feat of sounds and visuals.

Roanoke to Tel Aviv

Two Americans from the same hometown find themselves in the Israeli professional basketball league.

Eschers Taxi

Getaway to Kaohsiung
Dir. by Namewee Studio Production – Music Video – 4:44 min., Taiwan
This music video aims to promote the tourism of Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The song is about getting away from hassled life and traveling in Kaohsiung (southern city in Taiwan). The singer, Namewee, was in his "Moving Room" and traveled around Kaohsiung city. He meets different native citizens including aboriginals, tastes various local delicacies, and visits popular landmarks.

Living with Snow Leopards: Sainaas Story
Dir. by J. Joe Pontecorvo & Gayle Podrabsky – Documentary – 11 min., USA
Sainaa Sainbileg and her husband herd goats for their livelihood in a remote Yamaat Valley in Mongolia. They share their mountain home with killer predators, snow leopards and wolves. Sainaa has found a way to save the snow leopard from certain death if the cat kills their livestock.
