Geena Davis Talks at Tampa Theatre on May 27
(released 5/8/2022)

The LIMELIGHT speaker series presents personalities and thought leaders well known in national and international circles to share their unique experiences and perspectives on a range of topics from world affairs and politics, business and science, leadership, arts and sports.  The next speaker will be Geena Davis on Friday, May 27, 2022.

Davis made her feature film debut starring opposite Dustin Hoffman in Tootsie. She went on to star in such films as The Fly, Beetlejuice, Angie, The Long Kiss Goodnight, and Stuart Little. She is the Founder and Chair of the non-profit Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media, which engages film and television creators to dramatically increase the percentages of female characters — and reduce gender stereotyping — in media made for children 11 and under.

The lecture takes place at the Tampa Theatre. Doors open at 6:30pm and the lecture begins promptly at 7pm. After a few welcoming remarks from the series moderator and an introduction, Davis will deliver her comments for about 45 minutes, and will then take about a half-hour to respond to the audience's questions in a lively Q&A session. The evening will conclude by 8:30pm – 9:00 pm.

Geena Davis's appearance at Tampa Theatre is sponsored by Film Tampa Bay and Visit Tampa Bay.

The series was originally schedule for the 2020-21 season and now after the reduction in cases, the series is rescheduled and back.
