Pulse Survivor Doc JEANNETTE Premieres in SF

JEANNETTE, a feature documentary, will have its world premiere in the Doc Competition at the 2022 San Francisco International Film Festival on April 23. A portrait of a competitive bodybuilder, who is queer, a single mother and balancing the experienced trauma with reality of daily life. The subject Jeannette is a survivor of The Pulse Night Club Shooting in Orlando, Florida.

Jeanette Feliciano coaches other survivors at the gym while raising her son. Life comes hard again when Hurricane Maria hits Puerto Rico and again Jeanette has to go back into crisis mode. The documentary marks filmmaker Maris Curran's feature documentary debut with this world premiere of JEANNETTE in San Francisco.

Maris Curran the director/producer on the film has a MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Curran's films have shown at TIFF, MoMA, the NY Times Op-Docs and PBS's Independent Lens.

The in-person screening will take place at the Roxy Theatre in San Francisco on Saturday at 3:15p.m.
